Celebrating 20 years

Celebrating 20 years

As Elizabeth Home Decor & Design celebrates its 20th anniversary, I've been reflecting on how far this journey has taken me—and how deeply grateful I am for where it all started and where we are now. What began with a simple gift certificate has grown into a full-service interior design studio right here in Newton, Massachusetts, the place where I raised my family, built my business and planted roots that are still growing strong.

When I launched Elizabeth Home back in 2005, I didn't even own a flip phone. The world was just beginning to shift in new and exciting ways, and so was I. I had recently moved back from living overseas as a newlywed in Hong Kong, wholly inspired by the textiles, art, and cultural richness that surrounded me. Those years left a lasting impression—from attending gatherings with the Hong Kong Textile Society to sourcing Jim Thompson silks and discovering antique campaign furniture on our travels. I remember sipping tea at the Peninsula, walking Hollywood Road, dodging typhoons, and taking in the textures and colors of it all. Those early experiences have always stayed with me, and in many ways, they became the foundation for the layered, narrative-driven interiors that define our work today.

What started as trunk shows in New York quickly evolved into a tiny storefront in Chestnut Hill—and, over time, into the interior design studio that I'm so proud to lead. This neighborhood isn't just where I work—it's where I've watched my kids grow up, built lasting relationships with clients and friends, and created spaces that reflect the soul of the people who live in them. That personal connection has always been at the heart of Elizabeth Home Decor.
Over the years, we've completed hundreds of residential projects—each one different, but all rooted in comfort, intention, and a deep respect for how people live. We've had the honor of being featured in both national and regional publications and have been recognized with multiple Best of Boston awards—something that never gets old and always feels like a real validation of the love and care we pour into our work.

A few years ago, we expanded our vision with the launch of Petal & Press, a charming little grab-and-go flower and coffee shop inside our Chestnut Hill studio. It's become a neighborhood favorite—an easy way to bring a bit of joy, beauty, and color into someone's day. Like our interiors, the flowers reflect a belief that even the most minor details can make a space (or a moment) feel truly special.

Our studio space has worn many hats over the years—serving as a design office, gallery, meeting spot, coffee shop, and community space. It's a reflection of everything Elizabeth Home stands for: layered design, personal storytelling, and a warm, welcoming energy that's hard to put into words but easy to feel when you walk through the door.

As we look ahead—past flip phones and into the age of AI, through shifts in trends and supply chain challenges—I feel more inspired than ever to keep creating. What we do is deeply personal, and that will never change. Our clients have grown with us; some of their children are now adults and homeowners themselves. It's a privilege to keep showing up for those families, generation after generation.

Thank you for being part of our story. Whether you've worked with us, walked through our studio doors, or just discovered us—I'm so glad you're here. Here's to the next chapter, filled with beauty, creativity, and connection.

With love and gratitude,
Elizabeth
