Every designer has their favorites! In our new Color Questions series, we ask professional interior designers for their takes on the colors they return to time and time again. This week, Elizabeth Benedict, of the Boston-based design firm Elizabeth Home Decor, who is known for her love of bright colors and accents, tells us all about some of her tried-and-true hues—including some of the more muted go-to's.

What are your favorite, most reliable paints—the paints you return to time and time again?

I am a mostly Benjamin Moore girl. My favorite go-to colors in their line are Aganthus Green, Mineral Alloy, Silver Satin, Van Deusen Blue, White Dove, and Squire Hill Buff.

Rapid-fire round! Tell us your favorite in each of the following categories:

White paint: Benjamin Moore's White Dove or Chantilly Lace. White Dove on more traditional applications and Chantilly Lace when more contemporary—mostly trim and cabinetry.

Gray paint: I like to use Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter. It’s a warm gray that looks great on any application: exteriors, kitchen cabinets, bathroom walls.

Pink paint: Farrow & Ball's Pink Ground. It's soft enough for a little girl's bedroom that can carry through into adulthood.

A nook balances muted wallpaper and paint choices with strategic bursts of fuchsia.

Blue paint: Benjamin Moore's Van Deusen Blue [for] library walls. It's not as dark as a true navy and feels brighter during the day.

Bold colorFarrow & Ball's Terre d'Egypte. It's a very deep terracotta, perfect for a home office.

Muted color: Benjamin Moore's Alaskan Husky. It's the lightest blue/gray that sometimes reads purple. It's great to carry through a house, and goes with everything.
